Welcome back Aaron! I hope all is well with you. This is such an inspiring and really interesting thought about Cézanne's Still Life painting of Apples and pears. I never really thought of it as seeing the direction of a surface and plane to add color and character to a composition. Usually we would think of color and positioning and placement. Not so much the angle and perspective or the surface each object and element has to offer. Really great discovery! This opened up a new way of seeing things! I hope you and Sandy had fun at the MET!
Very interesting! I think an added curiosity is that the background is composed of big flat planes, while the apples are made up of smaller planes which highlight the depth and shape of the apples in contrast
